J.V. Lewis was born in 1938 in Goree, Texas, to Roy and Mattie (Fenter) Lewis, marking the beginning of a life deeply intertwined with faith and community. He was the middle child among three siblings, and his early years were spent on a farm in Comanche County, Texas. This rural upbringing steeped in traditional values laid the foundation for his lifelong commitment to faith.

At 14, his family moved to Eastland County, where they owned a laundromat. J.V. completed his schooling in 1957 and shortly thereafter, he married Nada Beard from Arkansas, whom he met at a church festival. Together, they raised three children, nurturing a family environment filled with love, faith, and commitment.

Professionally, J.V. started working in a glove factory before moving into construction where he became a journeyman commercial carpenter. His career spanned several decades, contributing to numerous building projects across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. He retired from carpentry in 2000, which allowed him more time to devote to his true passion: studying and writing about the Bible.

His inspiration to write emerged from a personal quest for deeper understanding following doctrinal changes in his church after the death of its founder. This led him to start writing sermons and eventually, his book. His works are an expression of his journey through faith, reflecting both a respect for tradition and a willingness to embrace new understandings of scripture.
